Click farm sites are annoying

I’ve decided what I find most irritating about Upworthy.com; It’s the headlines. Everything runs along the lines of:

  • 11 things about _______ that will blow your mind!
  • This girl/boy’s ________ will _________.
  • You won’t believe what happens after ________.

In the battle to get people to click on Facebook links, the Upworthy headline is becoming the annoying trend aped by Fastcompany and others. Instead of text that actually say what will be in the damned page, it’s something nebulous prediction about how you’ll be shocked/inspired/angry over something  they can’t tell you yet.  Annoying.
